It was a trip to Vietnam back in 2012 that changed my life in so many ways, food being one of them. You can read about it in an earlier article. The culture is welcoming, warm and vibrant. I made many friends there … and xin chào if you’re reading this!

Whilst there I was inspired to cook Vietnamese food when we returned home. This discovery was one of the reasons for starting this blog, to share the wonderful food this country has to offer.

We’ve been on numerous food excursions in Vietnam, most notably with Saigon Street Eats. If you’re in Ho Chi Minh City I recommend checking our their tours, to date we’ve been on six, each one different and enthralling.

Here’s a selection of the popular Vietnamese dishes and meals in The Cook’s Digest (click the pictures for the recipes):

Pho Ga – Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup
Vietnamese roast duck and pineapple
Vietnamese orange chicken with lemongrass
Com Ga – Vietnamese chicken rice

I’ve got more Vietnamese recipes in the pipeline, including Caramel Ginger Chicken and Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup). So stay tuned folks, and thanks for reading!
